What’s the Weather?

We’ve all had moments of weather disaster, right? You know, when your plans get destroyed all because you and your friends didn’t check the weather before you made said plans? Let’s set the scene to a scenario that all of us know (unfortunately) a little too well:

How weather can affect your health

Are you feeling exhausted or tired? Are you suffering from headache? Then why are you not blaming the weather for all these? There are many people who say, literally, that the weather gets into their nerves. It can be right. It can be wrong. However, we are all part of nature. We are not robots, but human beings, biological beings that have evolved over millions and millions of years. Even though there’s concerted effort by technology to detach us from this nature, the hard, cold fact is that we are still part of it, and will remain so. We are subjects to the elements of this nature, including weather.

The weather is important for everyone

I’ve been blessed with the chance to do the things I like everyday. And what makes me truly happy is the fact the chance for me to help others. There is no doubt that weather is one of the things that is important to everyone. And I am not only talking about the importance of knowing the weather to make a choice of taking the umbrella with you when you leave the house.

“There are a lot more things in our lives that in a great scale depend on the weather conditions.”

Sport events

From time to time I like to follow the world of different types of sports. A thing that I recently discovered is longboarding. And I had the chance to find out about this due to the fact that I gave help to some guys that are involved in this crazy sport. The thing is that the experience of longboarding rests on the weather conditions. I wanted to find out more about longboards to understand how weather affects this sport. So I went thru all the articles on this specific site RideAsFu*k to gain more information on longboarding. And now I clearly understand how exactly it is affected by weather. That is only one of the things that helped me to understand how important is weather.

longboarding in rain

I mean, these guys are planning their events for weeks ahead and it is all a lot easier if they are able to know, that the weather is going to be like. Off course, some little rain would stop any enthusiastic rider. But I am pretty sure that you understand what I am talking about here. And this goes for the majority of different sport events all around the world. So the importance of precise weather predictions is high. And I am more than happy that I am a part of those people, who have learned to predict weather and therefore to give help to those who need it.

It might seem to be just a little things. But the truth is that bad weather can easily ruin everything you have been planing for weeks. What is more, there are a lot of people out there who are waiting, for example, for the rainy days to come. Because they know how exactly to take the best out of this weather.

And there is more

The truth is that sport events are not the only ones directly effected by the weather. Because there is a large numbers of all kinds of events taking place under clear sky’s. We can only use our imagination to understand the number of different events that would most likely depend on the weather.

And we don’t even have to take it to the level of large events. Everyone of us is planing different things to do in the future. And it would always be more easy to do this if we we would knot exactly everything about the weather. Just imagine, taking your friend out on a date on a sunny day, when it suddenly starts to rain. That would not be nice at all.

Therefore it is important for you to understand the importance of predicting the weather

How weather helps me to play music on my digital piano

Durability, touch and tone are the 3 basic essentials of a great piano. A good ear can tell the differences in tone and know when the piano is pleasing to listen to. The tune is actually what color is to a painter and therefore important to produce beautiful quality. Tune problems should be overcome as far as possible. Most people however cannot give a rational explanation on how they get about setting tone or have an incomplete understanding of the tuning subject. While the electronic and digital pianos have tried to perfect the touch and tone, the luster is still missing. For a digital piano to sound like a conventional one, it has to be set to slightly go out of tune and brighten the timbre and stretch the strings.

piano loses its tune

There are several reasons a piano loses its tune, but moisture changes in the air is the main one. Most people stick to 2 tunings per year but the tuners knows that if they have to tune the piano according to what the ear hears, they would recommend tuning at least once a month. From a scientific point of view, there has never been a piano made to stand in tune without a rise or a drop. This is not unless it were maintained and tuned at constant temperature and barometric conditions. The piano is mostly made of wood and wood is porous changes its structure according to the moisture and temperatures. The piano strings are forced to swell during humid weather and shrink back when the air dries up.

Fluctuations in temperature and humidity changes are the main causes of a piano going out of tune. However, the best temperature for a piano depends on the comfort of the player. The music instrument has up to 12,000 parts that are designed in an elaborate assembly. Apart from wear and tear and friction, the 40,000 pounds of string pressure and the effects of frequent humidity and temperature fluctuations, contribute to tune differences all the time.

When the soundboard’s soft wood absorbs the moisture from the environment, it expands and puts tension on the strings, and this makes the sound sharper. When the air dries up, the strings shrink, reduce the strings tension and create a flat sound. This is seasonal because humidity rises in summer seasons and drops during winter.
The pin-block, which is a strip of wood with holes where steel tuning pins are driven, is another part affected by moisture changes. The strings coil around the pins which can be tightened or loosen for tuning. The wood in the pin-blocks contracts and swells according to the weather and this can change the pitch Other reasons for tune changes include playing hard on the piano — vibrations of the frame and strings can loosen the tuning pins after some time.

It’s evident that even when the weather conditions are moderate and climates are relatively short range, the process of swelling and contraction continues. Every change in the temperature degree or barometric level has an effect on the piano. The piano’s soundboard is always falling and rising in minute levels causing variations in the pitch. A piano should therefore be tuned at least once every season — winter, spring, summer and autumn. Whenever a piano is tuned it begins to get out tune immediately it’s played.

Note that instruments of lower costs are made from cheap materials and difficult to keep tuning. It’s important to buy a piano made of cured hardwoods and quality parts because they withstand humidity changes making you enjoy superb tone qualities. A direct sun ray is the biggest problem of a piano’s finishing and tuning stability. Placing the piano in front of a drafty window or near a heating vent can also damage the piano.
